Brecon and Radnorshire Liberal Democrat MP, Roger Williams has welcomed the Queen's speech that was delivered today to both houses at the state opening of Parliament. The speech, which sets the programme for the Governments year ahead, had economic growth as its main priority. There was also a commitment to introduce a Grocery Code Adjudicator, reform of electricity markets and the water industry.

Commenting Roger said:

"Speaking to constituents across Brecon and Radnorshire the main concern people have is the economy and jobs. I am very pleased that the first words of the Queen's speech were "My Government's legislative programme will focus on economic growth".

"I was delighted to see that the Supermarket Ombudsman (Grocery Code Adjudicator Bill) will be brought forward in the next 12 months. This is an issue that I have fought for many years and finally a body with teeth will be set up to protect producers from the unfair practices of supermarkets.

"Electricity market reform and water Industry reform is long overdue and will help consumers reduce the cost of their monthly bills."
